A student-made website collecting real-world examples for

IB Economics 15-mark questions

From economic theory to real-world evaluation.

In IB Economics Paper 1, students are expected to support their arguments with relevant real-life examples. This website curates a collection of case studies linked to different parts of the IB Economics syllabus, which you can keep in mind when answering 15-mark questions.

The purpose of this site is not to encourage rote memorisation. Instead, it aims to help you build familiarity with real-world economic cases, so that recalling suitable examples becomes increasingly natural over time. Based on student feedback, links to external sources are provided for most cases to allow further reading and independent exploration.

It is important to note that simply stating a real-life example is not sufficient in Paper 1. Examples must be clearly integrated into your analysis and evaluation. A solid understanding of the underlying economic theory should always come first.

This site is therefore intended as a reference bank rather than a checklist to memorise. Ultimately, the most effective way to develop strong real-life examples is through regularly engaging with economic news and applying theory to real-world events.
